The Dynavector XV Prima is a statement-level moving coil phono cartridge, representing the pinnacle of Dynavector's decades-long mastery of low-output MC design. Built around a multi-Alnico magnet array and Dynavector's proprietary Flux Damper technology, the XV Prima retrieves musical information from the groove with extraordinary resolution, dynamic authority, and tonal purity.

At its core is a 6mm solid boron cantilever — one of the stiffest and lightest materials available — topped with a PF Line Contact stylus (7 × 30 micron radius). The result is a cartridge that tracks with surgical precision while preserving the harmonic richness and three-dimensional imaging that define the truly great analog playback that Dynavector is known for.

Special Annealing Process

Every XV Prima undergoes Dynavector's proprietary annealing process, a carefully controlled heat treatment applied to the cartridge's ferrous components and eight Alnico magnets during production. Dynavector's process requires fine tuning and adjustments in temperature, atmosphere, duration, and both heating and cooling rates for each component. A technique passed down through the tradition of Japanese swordsmithing and now applied to the pursuit of perfect sound. This process relieves internal stresses within the magnetic structure, stabilizing the magnetic field and optimizing flux density for long-term consistency in performance. The result is a more uniform, precisely calibrated magnetic circuit that contributes directly to the XV Prima's exceptional channel balance, low noise floor, and the effortless sense of ease that characterizes its musical presentation.

Sound Character

The XV Prima rewards listeners with:

  • Exceptional low-level detail retrieval and micro-dynamic nuance
  • Wide, stable soundstage with precise imaging
  • Natural, extended high frequencies — airy without edge
  • Taut, articulate bass with genuine weight and control
  • A midrange that makes voices and acoustic instruments feel present and alive
