Consonance Linear Q

The Consonance Linear Q is an integrated tube headphone and speaker amplifier that features fully balanced push-pull amplification and a hybrid tube rectifier power supply. The amplifier is designed around two pairs of direct-heated 2A3 triode tubes operating in push-pull configuration. The specially designed output transformers ensure optimal impedance matching for various headphone types, making it easy to drive headphones from a variety of brands without any strain with selection for both low and high impedence. Additionally, a set of speaker output terminals allows this high-quality 8 watt class A integrated amplifier to be paired with high-sensitivity loudspeakers.

There are three negative feedback settings, providing listener control depending on taste, type of music, and headphone or speaker types. The Linear Q is a two-chassis design, one housing the power supply, the second primarily for the signal circuitry, allowing quiet operation and isolation of noise from the signal path. Made with high-quality components such as Lundahl balanced input transformers, EIZZ balanced (and sealed) stepped attenuator, Mundorf and Auricap capacitors, RA resistors, and internal silver wiring, the circuitry and design of the Linear Q results in a transparent, dynamic, and most of all engaging listening experience.

Listening notes – The much-written-about tone of the 2A3 tube is here in all its glory. The color, life and humanity this amp brings to even affordable headphones is impressive! I've yet to hear a headphone amp that reproduces the musical flow with this much authenticity, even with entry- or mid-level "audiophile" headphones. The speaker outputs give the same result. With a suitable speaker connected, the result is lively and harmonically rich music that draws you in to the performance. What a unique amplifier.
